Eye luggages

どうもジョーンズ長老です!

Holy cow this week was busy!
It was transfers, so there was a lot of traveling going on, which took up a lot of time, but it was fun enough! I've been getting so tired lately haha. Here are some highlights from the week:

-On Monday we went to Otaru for pday! I was so glad I got to go back at least one more time

-That night we went housing and this old guy let us in and we sat down to share the restoration with him. He had met with missionaries a long time ago, and still remembered them. He's a less active catholic haha

-On Tuesday we had to film another Christmas video with our district

-On Wednesday we were busy driving people around, but we got to teach English class at night and had two guys come who we're gonna start teaching the Gospel

-On Thursday there was a bunch of stuff going on for the missionaries that are going home, including a big testimony meeting that night, which was over zoom for anyone who wanted to watch. It was super powerful

-On Friday the returning missionaries went home, which was super sad. But that night we got 8 more! They are all pretty funny haha

-On Sunday we had stake conference! It was packed haha

-also our friend in my last area got baptized, and we got to go watch it in person. She's so sweet, I'm excited for her.

There was lots going on this week, but next week should settle down a bit, and we'll be able to do more missionary work. So I'm excited for that!

Dear Brother & Sister Jones,
It is a pleasure to inform you that your son, Elder Jones, has been called to serve as an
Assistant to the President. He has set excellent examples for the other missionaries by
demonstrating maturity and sense of responsibility and dedication to the work. As an
Assistant to the President, Elder Jones will have the opportunity to serve every missionary
in the Japan Sapporo Mission.
Missionaries in missions all over the world look up to their Assistants for guidance, counsel,
and assurance. In a sense, Assistants are the exemplary leaders of the mission. They are
constantly reaching out in loving service to bless the work and to build eternal friendships
of trust. In many days, they work extremely long hours and do so willingly. I feel Elder
Jones is ready to accept this opportunity and am confident he will faithfully fulfill this
significant responsibility.
Elder Jones’s knowledge of the gospel and his testimony have continued to grow as a
disciple of the Lord. I am confident that he will have many spiritual and exciting
experiences as he carries out this new assignment.
I will have the opportunity to work closely with your son over the next few months as we
travel to various areas and make decisions together. He will be fully involved in the
executive work of the mission. It is a blessing to have Elder Jones in Japan. We love him
and are grateful for the service that he joyfully gives. We commend you for your support.
Please continue to encourage Elder Jones’s efforts with supportive letters from home.
Warmest regards,

President Hiroshi Kinjo

Back and forth

皆さんヤッホー!!

This week was suuuper busy!! There was a little mix up with some stuff this week, so I had to go back and forth between Miyanosawa and my new area, Oyachi, a bunch this week! I was happy for the chance to work with Kobayashi chourou for just a little longer haha

Here's a little rundown of the week:

-On Tuesday I got taken back to Miyanosawa for us to film a Christmas video as a district, which was a really really good time. There are some funny missionaries here haha

-oh also my bike that I was using broke! Literally right after I left haha. At least I won't have to use it again

-Wednesday morning I went back to Oyachi and we got lots done. We played spikeball with this random high school kid who was really nice! Then we talked to this sweet lady and her dog, those were two of the coolest people we talked to that day haha

-On Thursday I got taken back to Miyanosawa! We streeted by the big park here in Sapporo, and had this awesome college kid walk us to this sightseeing place and took a picture with us. Of course to send us that picture he had to exchange contact info, so now we can contact him again ;)

-after that we had dinner with a lady who used to serve in this mission! Her brother also served here not too long ago. It was great!

-on Friday we had a super spiritual zone testimony meeting! That was a good time

-Saturday was actual transfer, so now I'm in Oyachi for good! And wow its busy! But we've been having a good time with it.

-lately I haven't been able to understand people's Japanese very well, which has kinda been scary but hopefully after I settle in, I'll be fine!

Sorry this one was long! Thank you so much!!

Miyanosawa

どうもジョーンズ長老です!!

Well hey there everyone! I hope you had a good week. Mine was pretty great! We had lots of good things happen.

-We got to go to a cool museum in Kushiro, then housed in the rain at night which was a little spooky in such a quiet little town

-taught a Korean guy some English, and it turns out he's Christian I think? I couldn't really tell haha

-Kobayashi Chourou was a little sick when we left Kushiro, so we took a train back, which was actually really fun!

-I got a surprise transfer call on Thursday, and I'm gonna be having my first and last transfer here in Japan! It's bittersweet for sure! Mostly bitter haha
This might be my favorite area I've had so far. The members here are so incredible, I'm gonna miss them a lot. Miyanosawa really is the best! But I'm excited to see more!

-I'm going to the other side of Sapporo, so not too far, but it's in another stake, so I'll get to meet lots of new members!

-We had a dinner with these three guys who have been coming to eikaiwa for years and have met missionaries for so long, and I've become pretty close to them, so since it was the last time I met with them we invited them to church one last time and told them all to think about baptism more haha

-better yet, they all came!! So cool. I was really happy to see them :)

-I got to say bye to most of the members here on Sunday, which I'm glad I got that chance! I plan on coming back to visit them all next year.

That was pretty much our week!
Love you!

Man it's Chotto chilly

どうもジョーンズ長老です!

Well it hasn't been that long since my last email, but somehow a lot happened since Wednesday!!

-We got to go with a guy we are teaching to his mom's grave and prayed with him, then had a pretty good lesson... oh and before that we had sushi with him 😊

-We had a zoom zone conference on Friday, which was really interesting haha. It was a good time though

-We decided to go streeting one day instead of our plans of housing and ran into a lady we used to teach and she was really happy to see us! She wants to come to church again sometime soon

-Also on the way to a recent convert's house, we ran into a guy we talked to streeting a little while back. That was a really nice little chance to invite him to learn again!

-One of the people we teach English to came to watch general conference with us on Sunday, which was a neat little experience. He's a nice fella

-We bused up to Kushiro again yesterday, so I'm in Kushiro until tomorrow! Such a nice little town :)

と言うことで!It has been a great time over here. Love you all!

I love to see the temple! Oh and it's cold

Catan!

皆さんこんにちは!!

Hope you're all doing well! If I remember right, a lot happened this week, so that's fun!

First of all, General conference was this weekend! I still haven't watched much of it yet though haha. So far so good though! Such good people are leading this church

Anyway here's a little rundown :)

-We went on a hike around a park, and I lost one of my name tags :'( I was only a little sad bout that

-one of our friends came to church! He is paralyzed from the neck down but he put in the work to get there. And his helper is a less active member of 20 years! So cool

-Played Catan with some members and one of our friends, which was super fun! I'm excited to play board games again

-Went to a massive park to do some streeting, and got to try out Kobayashi Chourou's new boomerang haha

it's been really cold and rainy, which has been a good time, it makes missionary work so much more satisfying

-We made a fun little ad for English classes, and made a copy of the Beatles' Abbey Street picture

Other than that nothing too crazy happened this week! I guess I did go to the temple today, and that was a great experience. It's such an incredible place

Have a good week!

Preparing for returning

Dear  Sister  Jones,

I am sending the same letter once again only because I had sent you this letter with a date of “January 13, 2022” instead of 2023 by mistake.  Please note that he is coming home on January 13, 2023.

The time is approaching for Elder Nicolas Chase Jones’s release from the Japan Sapporo Mission.  I need the following information to start processing his travel home:

   1) Elder Jones is scheduled to depart Sapporo on January 13, 2023.

   2) We have a record of an airport where Elder Jones initially flew out,  which is Salt Lake City International Airport.  We have spoken with him and confirmed that he desires to fly back to the same airport.

However, it is also critically important that I receive your words of  agreement or any modifications should you so desire ASAP.

   3) Please let me know also if your Bishop and/or your Stake President has changed before your son returns home.

It has been a great opportunity to work with your son.  We will miss him “greatly” after he leaves even though we know that he will be embraced in your loving arms.  Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful son

with us!
